This photo is posted a bit larger than usual due to a combination of subject and level of detail. I have a print of it that measures about 6 x 9 inches hanging on the wall and at that size, the reflections, tree trunks and such all look good to me. On the small screen, it doesn't seem to have quite the same depth, if that makes sense. So I decided to leave it a bit bigger in hopes that it will still carry some of the interest that the print has. Of course, it might just suck too . . . A note on the toning as well: the world right now here in Michigan is still basically brown and gray -- this is how winter comes to a close. Colors in a shot like this are always disappointing so I have no compunction about using monochrome or toning to let the shapes and light make their case on their own. Once spring is fully upon us, I want to return to this spot and see how it looks all green and leafy and rich with the colors of new life. We'll see how that goes and if I do, I'll post another shot for comparison.
