Long Road Ahead (by special request)

It's been close to 3 weeks since the last posting and much of that time's been spent catching up on projects that were side-lined for a variety of reasons and set back a bit further by the personal matters that demanded attention or taking care of arrangements, etc. involved in Mom's memorial service here "at home". I also spent quite a bit of time sorting and processing and re-processing (and taking breaks from) the photos I took in and around Mom's house. Now that things are back to more of what passes for normal, it was brought to my attention an hour or so ago that my site was still in its neglected state and deserved my attention. So ... with that in mind and having had this specific photo identified as one the requestor (that would be Dana for any who might be wondering) most wants to see, here it is. It was taken just before and across the road from This One and it was the reason I stopped the car in the first place. I wanted a shot of the long and winding road ahead as we began our drive through the canyons between Lubbock and Wichita Falls. It's hazy in the distance so at this size, it's hard to see that the road reaches the horizon just about a third of the way in from the right side. The sign on the right side of the road says "Historical Marker One Mile on The Left." Texas has a lot of those ... both on the left and the right. I don't know which occurs more though if you consider that they're identified for travelers heading east or west, it ought to be even. So if there are even numbers of left and right, how do they know if Texas is a red state or a blue state ???
